1. Shorten the length of the Sunnah Prayer

On the authority of Aisha (RA): “The Prophet (SAW) prayed two short rakaat between the Athan and Iqaamah of the Fajr prayer.” – Bukhari, Muslim

2. Recite the Recommended Verses in the Sunnah Prayer (Muslim)

  • In the first Rakah,

“Say: ‘We believe in Allah and what was sent down to us…'” – Q2:136

  • In the last Rakah,

“We believe in Allah and bear witness that we are Muslims.” -Q3:52

OR

“Say: ‘O people of the Scripture, come to a word that is just between us and you…'” – Q3:64

3. Take a Break after the Sunnah Prayer and Sit in place after Fajr

When the Prophet (SAW) prayed the two rakaat of the sunnah of Fajr, he would lie down on his right side. – Buhkari

When the Prophet (SAW) prayed Fajr*, he sat in place until the sun had risen perfectly. – Muslim

* Allah (SWT) instructed the angels to pray for forgiveness of those sitting in the masjid, whether before or after the solat, by saying:

“O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy on him. – Bukhari
